Konica launches ‘game-changer’ textile printer

Konica Minolta had its worldwide launch of ‘game-changing’ textile printer at an international machinery exhibition in Italy.

According to Konica, the new Nassenger SP-1 is an ultra-high speed textile printer developed in response to the growing need for faster, on-demand textile printing.

Digital textile printing is touted by proponents as having the potential to be a huge growth market, and is currently at nascent stage.

The model was launched at the ITA Milan exhibition and Konica says the machine has a print speed of 570sqm per hour, and is the ‘ideal successor’ to a conventional inkjet textile printer.

Konica Minolta senior advisor Akiyoshi Ohno says it was created for the increasing demands for improved textile print quality with shorter lead times.

“Reducing downtime is critical, and the Nassenger SP-1 was developed to meet the needs of these users in the fast-emerging market of textile printing,” he says.

“Users of these machines are now calling for inkjet textile printers with the print speed of screen printing machines.”

The technology is being showcased at the ITMA this week, and Konica says guests have been ‘amazed at the performance capabilities.’

ProPrint is waiting to hear back from Konica Minolta as to when the Nassenger SP-1 will be available in Australia.
