Konica Minolta award finalists revealed

Konica Minolta has announced its state finalists for the National Specialised Print Awards, which the company says recognises printers that achieve outstanding excellence in print with a Konica Minolta press system.

The state finalists are digitalpress in NSW for A Meeting of Words; The Type Factory in Victoria for Sketches; Design Line in Qld for Redlands City Council; Images on Paper in WA for its Finches in Australia; Who You Creative in SA for The Waratah; and the label print award is for Shire Labels in NSW for Urban Agent.

The entries were judged by a panel of experts including Kellie Northwood, TSA; John Wanless, Bambra Press; Robert Brussolo, Ball & Doggett; and Darrell John of Konica Minolta.

Anthony Lewis, general manager – specialised print, Konica Minolta says, “Konica Minolta is impressed with the calibre of entries we received this year. We would like to congratulate the finalists for their outstanding work, and thank all who took the time to enter. We look forward to celebrating at the National Specialised Print Awards event.”

NSW nominee digitalpress founder Theo Pettaras says,"I was delighted to hear that Digitalpress made it as a finalist in the Konica Minolta print awards and to be representing NSW is an honour. Our two entries submitted were self-published books. Both instigated by our desire to create something with passion and purpose.

"Being recognised as finalists makes it even more worthwhile. I commend Konica Minolta for showing such initiative, the awards provide us digital printers the opportunity to demonstrate what we can produce using conventional toner-based printing equipment. It provides an even playing field, the final results limited only by one’s creativity and imagination.

"I am looking forward to next week’s event and meeting fellow finalists, it will be great to compare our work. I wish them all the best of luck. I will make sure my passport is valid (just in case)."

State finalists will be flown to Sydney to attend the Konica Minolta National Specialised Print Awards event on Thursday, November 16, where the overall winner will be announced and will receive return flights, accommodation and entry to Graph Expo 18 in September in Chicago.
