Konica Minolta client upgrades to C7000 and praises service

The C7000 will replace the Bizhub Pro C6501 that the company installed 36 months ago.

Williams Drury, manager of the seven-staff regional print company, said service and support was key to the decision to stick with Konica Minolta for its latest digital press.

“When we put in the first machine, the main focus was service because we are in the bush. We have had poor service from other suppliers in the past. When we put in the first Konica Minolta, their ability to service it was a big part of the deal,” Drury told the PacPrint Daily.

He said the company invested in the new machine because “we wanted to keep up with technology and wanted the speed and print quality.

“It’s a more robust machine. It runs heavier stock, up to 350gsm and duplexes 300gsm.”

Devan Nair, Konica Minolta’s national dealer business development manager, said: “The biggest thing was that it can run the different media. They can run offset stocks, gloss stocks and stickers.”

The Bizhub Press C7000 reaches speeds of 71 pages per minute, while the smaller model in the family, the C6000, can hit 60ppm.

It provides 1,200×1,200dpi resolution and prints using Konica Minolta’s Simitri HD polymerised toner.

The C7000 will join two small offset presses at the family company, which is the biggest printer in Ulladulla.

There is plenty of other technology on the Konica Minolta stand, including a clever UV coating
system the company has recently started distributing.

The Tec Lighting Digital Inline UV Coater creates a protective coating that dries instantaneously and leaves a consistent, reflective finish that is dry-erase, glue-able and write-able – as well as preventing scuff and scratches.
