Konica Minolta takes stand on domestic violence

Konica Minolta has introduced a new Domestic and Family Violence Support Policy for its staff in support of the half a million Australian women which have experienced physical or sexual violence in the past 12 months.

The company has also commissioned several of its staff members across its Australian branches to be trained by experts from the University of NSW (UNSW) to act as go-to people for survivors and perpetrators of domestic violence.

Konica Minolta introduced the policy on November 25, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

The policy will see employees experiencing domestic and family violence receive paid leave, flexible working arrangements and access to an assistance program. It was developed in consultation with the UNSW and the Women’s Legal Service of Queensland.

The benefits will also be extended to employees who are supporting a person experiencing family and domestic violence.

Konica Minolta corporate social responsibility leader, Anastasia Konstantelos says, “This year a diverse group of employees in the company’s branches across Australia were trained by the UNSW as go-to people for those that wish to come forward for assistance.

“The role of the go-to person is to help provide information about the provisions made in the company’s Domestic and Family Violence Support Policy and the professional services available for people seeking assistance.”

Konica Minolta director of people and culture, Cindy Reid adds, “This initiative is part of the company’s broader strategic commitment to support an inclusive, fair and supportive workplace.

“The company also has in place initiatives to help address unconscious bias, review gender pay parity, and gender targets in traditionally male-dominated roles.”
