Collotype Labels Griffith shows off its swag of awards at the 2014 LATMA Label Conference
Latma is inviting converters to get their entries in for the 2014 Label Awards, last date for entry is Friday August 15. The organisers say the awards have been a great success for many years, and will bring together all parts of the label industry for the ceremony event to be held in 2015. The gold winners for the Aussie awards will be whisked off to Chicago for judging in the World Label Awards. In previous years Australian converters have performed well at the international awards, with three joint best-in-class wins in 2013 for Multi-Color Queensland, Collotype Labels Griffith and Ultra Labels Australia.

In the World Label Awards, Wedderburn Labels received an honourable mention in flexo wines/spirits
Honourable mentions also went to Wedderburn Labels in the flexo wines/spirits category, and to Labelworld WA in offset colour process. Andrew Maxwell, co-chairman of the awards, encourages converters to avoid a last minute panic and enter early. He says, “If you want your company, your employees and your customers represented not only on the national stage, but also the international stage, then you need to get your entries in today. “Who knows, you could be the next person walking up to accept your company’s first gold or best in show award.” Alan Dabscheck, president of Latma, says, “We wish all of our entrants the best of luck, well knowing that luck in our industry is made by our members and will play little part in the Latma or World Label Awards, as only the highest standards of design and printing techniques will win gold.” The competition aims to give converters an opportunity to showcase their finest work, receive recognition for their efforts, and be exposed to new converting methods and techniques.
