Less formalisation for Wellington, NZ, committee

The 11-person forum agreed that regular meetings were no longer required in light of PrintNZ itself increasingly organising social functions, and also moved it no longer appoint a president and instead select a formal representative as required by future circumstances.

The AGM heard that issues raised by the committee in the last 12 months had included New Zealand Post envelope standards, health and safety, union negotiations and dealing with difficult staff.

Other general business matters discussed included:

$NZ8311.69 was raised for the Wellington Free Ambulance through the 2008 charity golf day;

the PrintNZ annual survey questionnaire has now been issued;

A4 sheet paper prices have risen 25 per cent since December last year, with a further 7 per cent increase scheduled for August 1;

with the public focus on price increases generally, the climate is right to pass these on to customers as opposed to absorbing them;

although compliance difficulties have seen BJ Ball Papers and Spicers Papers withdraw from the five-star rating system in place for Government departments purchasing paper-based products, both companies can supply information to support tenders if necessary.
