LIA to visit Australia’s largest converter

Allan Wetherell, secretary of the NSW LIA says, “As an organisation we sometimes get too focused on the business of creating images and transferring them to paper.” Wetherell continues, “There is another highly complex and critical contributor to a successful final product. Whether it is commercial print of packaging, paper, board or film, the specialist converter plays a vital and often overlooked role in today’s production environment.”

Dimension 1 has recently commissioned two of the latest slitting and sheeting machines to augment its production capacity. The company has recently has invested $5m in buying the Paperlinx-owned Southern Cross Converting (SCC), relocating the business into its Smithfield factory, and installing the two latest Marquip sheeters, in order to provide sheetfed printers with a bespoke sheeting service. The company continues to be Australia’s largest slitter, and rums automated pallet handling wrapping systems.

Dimension 1 now offers a direct sheeting service to printers ordering significant amounts of paper stock, and also has a contract with Dalton and Spicers to supply sheet for their customers. The company serves the NSW, SA and Qld markets from its Sydney base. Dimension 1 was founded by Ashley’s father Brett.
