Victorian print and communications business Lithocraft has installed a new Autobond Mini 105 TPH S High Speed laminator through Graph-Pak, upping its throughput tenfold.

The Autobond laminator has lifted Lithocraft’s capacity from 1,500 A1 sheets per hour to 10,000-11,000 per hour.

Paul Paten, owner of the Truganina-based business says, “We had an old GVC laminator, and that was quite slow at 1,500 A1 sheets per hour. We were looking to improve that. We did a little bit of research, looking at European laminators.

“With the assistance of Tom Ralph, we checked out the Autobond. It was able to produce 10,000-11,000 A1 sheets per hour. It improved out efficiencies immensely, was installed in two days, with two days of training after that. It was seamless, with minimal interruption. The guy did a good job.

“It has not missed a beat since it has been up and running.”

Tom Ralph, owner, Graph-Pak says, “This was a prestige sale for Graph-Pak, and is our one-hundred and eleventh machine sold.

“Lithocraft will see short and long term benefits from the investment, it is a machine that will run for the next 20 years, with minimal maintenance investment.

“We are proud to be associated with Autobond and we are looking forward to getting to machine number 200 in a few years.”

Paten says the machine has freed up staff for other jobs.

“We have been able to produce the same amount of work, minus overtime. We are also able to use staff elsewhere once the work is complete, allowing us to be more efficient in many areas.

“I would definitely recommend it for other printers. It has been a positive purchase for Lithocraft. The installation was positive too, seamless and minimal interruption.

“Lithocraft generally doesn’t spruik what we do, but Tom Ralph and Graph-Pak did a pretty good job on this, so they deserve credit.”
