Melbourne printer’s web presence lands it last-minute Australian Open job

The firm produced one shirt each for Nike clients Azarenka, Roger Federer and Li Na so they would be wearing the sponsor's logo if they won the tournament.

Director Tom Dickson said Same Day received the call at 5.15pm on Friday afternoon and handed over the job at 9am the next morning.

He said it was pure luck Same Day got the call, because Nike's sports agency, Limelight Sports, only found the company via a last-minute online search.

"While it was only a very small job, it was great to get a call very late Friday afternoon from Nicola at Limelight Sports, on behalf of Nike," he told ProPrint.

"We were not far off closing for the weekend when Nicola called saying the Nike team needed some last-minute shirts printed to take advantage of an opportunity to promote the Nike Flyknit range at the Australian Open winner press conferences on the weekend."

The six-staff operation produced the t-shirts with two Roland DG VersaCamm VS-420s, said Dickson.
