Midway upsizes its digital

Midway Print Solutions says its new Ricoh Pro C7110 digital printer will expand and dramatically increase the company’s revenue. Speaking with Australian Printer, Tim Pocok, managing director of Midway Print Solutions, says the investing will ensure he expands his business dramatically and attract more customers to its growing client base.

Pocok says, “I did my research and looked at suppliers across the board and the C7110 was the one that offered banner size prints as well as white toner, which suits our client base. “The printer has just been installed so how much it will increase our revenue is difficult to say, but we have been growing by more than 20 per cent since this time last year and I expect it will dramatically increase our revenue.” Pocok says that while the business is also looking into investing in more digital printers, offset is something that will never die and the industry should support it. He says, “We have a six-colour Komori offset press that is four years old and going strong. Offset is something that will never die, at least not in my lifetime, so the industry needs to get behind it more. “But that doesn’t mean that digital is not taking off. You would be crazy not to have a digital printer in today’s fast-changing world. We have two Fuji Xerox 700s, which are superseded, but we use them for the overflow of work from the Ricoh. “We have been thinking of investing in more digital printers though and that will have happen in the nearest future.” Midway employs 18 full-time and four casual staff and has also been investing in the other areas of the business in the last four months. Pocok says, “We brought a new laminator and the Ricoh with an investment of a quarter of a million dollars. But we are thinking of expanding further. “The growth that we have experienced has been across the board in our digital, offset and mailing and most of it has been due to our customers being busy. So when they are busy they have more to spend and that’s how we have grown. “We have also increased our client base and also changing our name last September which was an in house decision to include the word print in our logo to reflect more of what we do. So we changed from Midway Colour to Midway Print Solutions. “We haven’t done much with the name change though, so that is something that we need to work on and let people know as well,” he says. The family business based in the western Melbourne suburb of Sunshine specialises in digital, offset and speciality print.
