Muller Martini launches new saddlestitcher

Livio Barbagello, managing director of Muller Martini Australia says, “The major benefits of the new 160E are the speed and automation. For those print businesses in the high volume sector the new saddlestitcher will provide the production power they need.”

Muller Martini is also working in digital print finishing with the new Sigma line. Barbagello says, “We wanted one integrated production line, with one central control point that would harmonise with the new high performance digital print solution being developed by the likes of Oce and HP. Sigma is a fantastic solution which provides inline finishing.”

Muller Martini says the new Primera 160 has net output of 16,000 cycles per hour in all run lengths and wide range of sizes with a clearly laid-out setup wizard, and an automatically synchronised feeder, gathering chain, stitching machine and three-knife trimmer. In contrast, the Primera E160 features an automatic makeready system. It automatically sets the feeder, stitching machine, three-knife trimmer and stacker to the required size and synchronises them.

The Primera 160 has a single gathering chain, close fitting feed for the signature, and a wheel in the feeder ensures that the signature is transported, guided and securely placed on the chain during feed mode. The new servo-controlled pressing device releases the product immediately after the cutting action for downstream processing. Products in the A7 to A3 size range can be produced in a range of customised variations

A conversion trolley transfers folder feeders, signature feeders and merchandise tippers so the machine can be prepared for a new job. A new mobile merchandise tipper increases the number of product make-up variations; it can be inserted into position to produce cards, merchandise samples and CDs.

The Primera 160 has a staple control to checks whether staples are present and that they are the correct shape. Connex workflow integrates the Primera 160 into the digital workflow, and the new Connex information system logs the current production data and displays it on a desktop or large screen.

Muller Martini also highlighted solutions including its SigmaLine system for the fully automated production of a range of printed products; modular design; and customised solutions that involve integrating other devices.
