New Agfa cutter for wide format printers

Agfa has added an automatic cutting and finishing plotter to its wide format portfolio, aimed at cardboard, digital, and signage printers.

The company says the Acorta will help sign and display printers to extend their product offering, turning a variety of printed rigid and flexible sheet media into finished decoration, containers, and banners.

Agfa inkjet vice president Dominiek Arnout says, delivering point-of-sale materials is more than just printing on the right substrate.

“We are developing an all-integrated approach in which our customers can add an extra inhouse finishing step, all driven from Asanti,” he says.

“Rendering, printing and cutting in one workflow allows them to be more productive, more efficient suppliers with a higher return on investment for their business.”

Agfa says the Acorta uses an auto recognition system that automatically localises the printed objects and the position of the reference points on the cutting table, as well as the substrate’s height, to avoid manual setup of the job parameters.

The automatic cutting and finishing plotter fits into its Anapurna and Jeti range and features cutting speeds of up to 102mpm.

Agfa says it has a robust build and 40 vacuum zones that activate automatically where and when needed.
