Agfa Graphics is releasing a new Anapurna M2500i UK inkjet printer designed for sign shops, digital printers, photo labs and graphic screen printers. The most recent i-series machine is a 2.5m wide six colour plus white UV inkjet printer with an automated board feeder. Agfa says it is ‘ideal’ for indoor, outdoor and niche applications such as art reproduction, mouse pads, DVDs, wood, architectural and interior decorations and lenticular displays. Willy Van Dromme, director of marketing for inkjet systems with Agfa, says the system features robust engineering for sustained higher workloads and aims to offer printers a wide range of applications.

He says, “We are determined to develop the technology that can help printers to take concepts to reality in the most efficient and cost-effective ways possible.” Dromme says the M2500i offers increased print throughput while achieving high quality. It prints on rigid and flexible media including boards and sheets, roll-to-roll and roll-to-sheet. It is also capable of printing on multiple boards and borderless printing adds to productivity. The system’s automated board feeder also aims to enhance productivity by allowing for volume printing of small board sizes; up to five boards can be printed in parallel. The machine features six Konica Minolta KM 1024i Grayscale print heads for colour and two KM 1024i heads for white. It prints at a maximum resolution of 1440 x 720 dpi and has a maximum speed of 115sqm an hour. It will be shown at the SGIA show in Las Vegas in October at the company’s Surf N’ Crab Application Zone, which simulates a crab shack restaurant and surf shop. For its global debut the M2500i will print a tropical seafood menu on rigid backlit film.
