News Corp launching new print mag

Newspaper giant News Corp is set to launch a new printed magazine appearing in three state-wide papers across Australia, replacing axed mag Sunday Style.

The glossy insert, named Stellar, will be available from the end of August, and will be printed alongside The Sunday Telegraph in NSW, the Sunday Herald Sun in Victoria and Queensland’s Sunday Mail.

According to News Corp, the debut of the new mag will be supported by a $6m marketing campaign involving print, TV, radio and digital channels.

“The launch of Stellar is a huge investment in our Sunday audience; not only are we providing more relevant and more engaging content for our readers, advertisers now have the opportunity to reach readers every week in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. No other weekend magazine can match that,” says News Corp.

The media goliath also says the new Stellar mag will become Australia’s biggest glossy magazine in terms of readership, anticipated to reach upwards of 2.9 million Australians per week.

News Corp’s magazine revitalisation comes shortly after the firm’s acquisition of APN News & Media’s Australia Regional Media arm which boasts a raft of over 70 newspapers.
