Associate Publisher of Print 21 at Niche, Grant Arnott, tells i-grafix that Niche failed to come to terms with PIAA regarding a continuation of the current contract.
“Niche took a good hard look at Print 21 over the last six months and in light of market conditions and the competition, decided that it would not be viable to continue with the publication”, Arnott explains.
Niche, which has a stable of successful monthly print titles including Macworld and Desktop, has plans to enter other non-print areas of business in 2005 says Arnott. When asked about the future of Print 21, Arnott says that he is unaware of PIAA’s intentions for the product. “But we have withdrawn”, he tells i-grafix.
A call to Print 21 executive editor, Patrick Howard, reveals that he will take over the publication of the magazine from next year. When asked to comment about the changes, Howard says he believes that the former publishing partners have parted ‘amicably’.
The November issue of Print 21 – the last published by Niche – had not been received when this story was written (November 29).
