North Coast screen printer shuts doors

Port Macquarie based screen printer Cooks Printing has closed its doors for good following its collapse into liquidation yesterday.

Cooks Printing, owned by Muriel Cook and son William Cook emerged on the North Coast’s screen printing scene after it took over Harvest Screen Printing in March last year.

The family-run business had only been trading for 18 months before liquidators were appointed on Monday.

Liquidators from accountancy firm Shaw Gidley confirmed to ProPrint Cooks Printing had ceased trading yesterday, however were unable to provide any information on the reason for its failure.

It remains unknown what will happen to the printer’s small workforce which comprises two print operators, including former Harvest Screen Printing owner Dave Richardson, and one sales and marketing executive.

Cooks Printing offered screen and embroidery services, built its own reusable screens and operated an on-site darkroom.

Its product portfolio included banners and signs, garment printing, point-of-sale display products and business stationary, and printed a number of commercial jobs for the region’s real estate industry and election advertising.

A creditors meeting for Cooks Printing has been scheduled for Thursday, July 28. ProPrint understands its creditors may include a number of apparel businesses which were the printer’s main suppliers.
