
A qualified computer scientist with fifteen years’ experience in the field, Kastner held a number of executive positions in the print media industry before applying his considerable expertise in process optimisation and restructuring, his extensive knowledge and numerous contacts within the printing industry to set up in business in 2001 as an independent consultant and managing partner of Hiflex Streamlining. He also provided professional advice on preparing print providers for internal and external ratings.
In 2003 Roland Kastner established ARGE AR+D (a business consortium specialising in RFID for printing plants) and a networking group, Pegasus. These alliances of providers and business consultants to the print media industry actively promote strategic collaboration among scientists, providers of systems and components, and manufacturers of plant and machinery, as a means of advancing technological projects in the industry and innovative developments in process optimisation.
KBA Complete and its allied enterprises, which enjoyed such a successful debut at Drupa with a string of contracts for services and networking projects, have lost a universally admired colleague, the print media industry an acknowledged expert on systems networking and innovation.
