oOh Media aims to increase outdoor spend

New appointments by oOh! Media to its national sales leadership team are aimed at increasing out-of-home’s share of advertising spend in the country by 50 per cent to six per cent.

The company says the out-of-home (OOH) industry is currently at four per cent and to lift this to six per cent, the industry needs to increase the current spend by 50 per cent (by advertisers on OOH).

The company has appointed Peter Whitehead as its new national sales director while Phil Eastwood (formerly APN Outdoor) has been appointed as national commercial director of sales.

With the integration of Eye Corp now complete and the recent staff additions CEO Brendan Cook says oOh! is now strongly placed to attack the market share of other mediums.

Cook says, “Peter and Phil will be joining John O’Neil to give oOh! one of the strongest sales leadership teams in media. We are confident that through our market leadership, coupled with our great team of sales professionals and our capability to connect advertisers while they are away-from-home, we will continue to drive the overall growth of the industry.”

He says, “Our portfolio of high performing traditional OOH (Out-of-Home industry) media, combined with the broadest array of digital environments and a cache of newly created technology engagement products, ensures we own the world leading OOH audience delivery and engagement solutions.”

“Our recent world-first campaign for Google in the airport environment highlighted the amazing mix of products, technology and research we have developed to demonstrate and improve the power of outdoor for new and existing clients.”

Whitehead is joining from Fly, where he was the commercial director of sales, and was responsible for the sales performance of oOh!’s airport media assets.

Eastwood moves across from APN Outdoor, where he spent three years as the national sales director. Eastwood was also the managing director of Glue Media, an outdoor advertising company specialising in developing and building large and small format billboards in Australia and New Zealand.

Whitehead and Eastwood will be supported by state sales teams.
