Outdoor ad supplier moves into printing with Oce

The Sydney-based company installed the large-format flatbed machine around a month ago.

General manager Todd He said the six-staff business had been able to virtually eliminate its external print bill by bringing its print work in-house and onto the machine.

“We do a lot of light boxes and our only internal print facility was a Roland machine, which couldn’t achieve the quality that we needed,” he said.

“We have been running the Arizona for a month and we are printing around 50% of our light box work on the machine.”

Océ Australia product manager for display graphics Steven Badger said: “Slimbox was looking for an extra wide-format flatbed able to deliver exceptionally high-quality print service for its illumination products.

“They manufacture light boxes which are often quite large and wanted to avoid unsightly joins in the image. The Océ Arizona 360 has a very generous 2.5×3.05m bed and also offers a high-definition mode that can print quite legible type as small as two point.”

The Océ Arizona 360XT recently picked up Product of the Year in the Flatbed Rigid White Ink UV (less than $200k) at the Specialty Graphic and Imaging Association convention in New Orleans
