PacPrint Q&A: Cyber Australia

Bernard Cheong
Managing director
Cyber Australia

When was your company's first PacPrint?

In 2005. Cyber Australia had been established in the previous year. The Cyber Group was founded in 1976. We represent Ryobi in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Sri Lanka.

Can you name any milestone launches at previous PacPrints?

At PacPrint 2009, we launched the first Ryobi 925D, SRA1-size five-colour offset printing machine with an aqueous coater.

Can you name any milestone sales at previous PacPrints?

At the 2009 show, the Ryobi 925D was sold to CMYKhub, and subsequently, with its superior performances, they bought four other identical presses. And at PacPrint 2005, our first PacPrint, all major exhibits were sold.

PacPrint or PrintEx – what’s your favourite?

As we are in the heavy machinery business, the longer build-up time at PacPrint is more favourable. The build-up time at PrintEx is too short and limits what we can show. In 2007, we had to install a Ryobi 925 SRA1-press over a continuous 24-hour time frame.

How can customers get the most out of PacPrint?

Australia is a special place. It is meaningless to purchase a piece of equipment from international shows such Drupa in Germany, Ipex in the UK or Print in Chicago if there is no local support available. Customers should look at the local infrastructure of the company they are buying from. These are long-term investments that will affect the future of their businesses.

How will you entice customers to invest?

Productivity and efficiencies are key performance indicators in a market where margins are shrinking. It is now a volume game. Profit comes from high utility and reduced production cost due to economies of scale. We will show how we can print more with less: less cost, less time, fewer plates, less makeready waste, less space, less power and fewer operators.

What will you be showing at PacPrint13?

The Ryobi 928P LED-UV SRA1-size eight-colour convertible perfecting offset press. It reduces production costs by up to 25%. We will also show the Amsky LED-UV platesetter, which reduces plate cost by up to 50%, and the Cosmotech 'Friendly' waste water distillation system, which reduces liquid waste disposal cost by up to 90%.

Can you give us any other hints about your stand or plans for the show?

Our stand will be all about savings. It is not about capacity, it is having the capability to save, using equipment optimised and designed to save.

PacPrint13 takes place at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre on 21-25 May 2013. Visit www.pacprint.com.au.
