PIAA looks outside of printing to find new CEO to replace Andersen

The peak body has named seasoned trade association head Bill Healey as the new CEO.

The PIAA made the announcement yesterday at its AGM at PrintEx11, citing Healey’s extensive executive work as the reason for his appointment.

Healey (pictured) has had equivalent roles as former chief executive of both the Australian Hotels Association and the Australian Retailers Association. He will aim to move the PIAA forward by drawing on his experience managing major projects.

Healey has also been a member of a wide range of working groups and committees established to review legislation and provide advice to government on regulatory, operational and strategic issues.

These included the NSW Worker’s Compensation Advisory Committee, the Federal Small Business Ministerial Advisory Committee and the Deputy Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Group on the new Fair Work Act.

PIAA president Susan Heaney said that Healey’s experience in leading two major service industry bodies during times of change was “invaluable”.

“We are in a period of significant change that is challenging our relevance and attitudes almost daily,” she said.

“Bill’s experience with industries and organisations in transition and government in particular will prove invaluable as we go forward and plan for our future.”

Heaney added that Healey was well aware of the challenges facing the printing industry.
Healey will take up his role on 9 May, replacing current Anderson, who enjoyed a successful 19 years with the association.
