PIAA SGM cancelled

The Special General Meeting (SGM) between the PIAA board and Member Action Group (MAG) scheduled to take place tomorrow will not go ahead, according to acting president Kieran May.

PIAA interim president May confirmed to ProPrint that the meeting will no longer take place and has been cancelled as the Board and the Members Action Group work together.

The meeting at which a vote of confidence in the Board was due to be taken was originally due to be held February 23. However new president Kieran May deferred it for a period of 14 days, during which the president and board members and the irate members met for an informal discussion in a bid to take steam out of the burgeoning volatility that has engulfed the PIAA and led to the resignations of four board members, including two presidents, and the CEO Jason Allen.

The meeting, which was slated to be heated showdown between the Board and unhappy industry members, was first used as a threat by the MAG if several demands were not met. The PIAA then called the SGM itself in a bid to out-manoeuvre the rebel group.

A vote of confidence in the Board was an item on the agenda due to be discussed during the meeting. Some members were calling for the entire Board to resign.

May was reluctant to comment on the reasons behind the SGM’s second delay, however says acting CEO Bill Healey is due to release a statement.

More to come.
