According to Fuji Xerox the iGen3 Digital Production Press offers capabilities that complement traditional offset presses; short print runs, quick job turnarounds and variable information (VI) printing. The press features printing speeds up to 100 pages-per-minute on a wide range of paper stock.
The Nuvera Digital Production System addresses the full range of work produced in commercial and quick print shops and in corporate reprographic departments. Designed for high-volume black and white production printing, it boasts an average monthly recommended page volume from 100,000 to 1.5 million pages, and duty cycles up to 3.5 million. The system prints on both coated and uncoated stocks and offers a new halftone density of up to 156lpi which provides high-quality imaging.
The system brings the digital advantages of fast turnarounds, economical short runs, personalised printing and integration with the Web to commercial printing and in-plant printing operations.
Partner software solutions including EFI Balance, XMPie PersonalEffect, Press-sense iWay, and Atlas Software Printshop Mail, are part of a FreeFlow Partner Pavilion on the stand.
Among a host of new solutions launched at PacPrint is Apeos Port 6050, which is both a black and white and a colour digital printer, producing 60 monochrome or 50 colour pages a minute. Fuji Xerox says it is aimed at customers who are likely to be producing around 50,000 sheets a month. It prints with five colours (two black) on stock between 64-280gsm. However its real selling point is its ability to be customised to receive database information direct, for instance from SAP, saving significant time and cost. The Apeos Port 6050 will be available with Fiery rip in a couple of months.
Fuji Xerox also launched an inline finishing solution, ColorWorks 8000 for its DocuColor 8000, which allows complete inline booklet making including crease, fold, stitch and trim. Among other developments the speed on the iGen3 has been upped by between 10 and 20 per cent, and it now comes with the option of an inserting system. Xerox also launched the DocuTech 180 HLC, a monochrome printer that will also print a highlight (spot) colour.
The FreeFlow workflow has Process Manager added, which allows printers to pre-build workflows, through a simple drag and drop function. The company describes it as a significant development. Fuji Xerox also showed a host of upgrades from partner workflow companies including XMPie and iWay.
