Print Media apprentice wins LIA award

The LIA Heidelberg Graduate of the Year Awards for NSW took place last night at North Ryde RSL, celebrating the best of young print talent and awarding Warren Ojeda from Print Media the prestigious title.

The nominees for the Lithographic Institute of Australia Graduate award were four young print apprentices, Russell Bills from Fairfax Media, Hannah Lyons from MIGAS, Duncan Crisp from BPG-NCP and the winner Warren Ojeda, working at Print Media.

The four graduates were judged through an LIA panel and interview process, and Ojeda took the NSW top spot, now in the running to win the $15,000 national prize. His boss Daniel Sawan, founder of Print Media was also recognised with the employer award.

The theme of the night certainly was the power of print, specifically marketing, with keynote speaker TSA executive director Kellie Northwood taking the stand and preaching to the crowd how traditional print will always remain relevant.

Visual Connections general manager Karen Goldsmith also addressed the guests, commending the young graduates for pursuing a career in print and promoting positivity for the graphic arts sector.
