Lewtschenko says, “I started my apprenticeship as a binder and was doing that for six years, when a print operator left the company and I had to take over his job. “I taught myself how to operate an offset machine and did that for four years before the idea of opening up my own binding business came to mind. “I still have my day job as a printer but after I finish work I come home and open the garage and turn on my binder. “I know that once people get to know about my business, and its high level of professional service, I will get busier and leave my day job to do this full time.” He says his fledgling company has been picking up some good clients and he aims to attract more by providing high level service. Lewtschenko says, “I wanted to start a business that was going to provide the best service with fast turnarounds. “The Horizon BQ-270 cost more than $30,000 and it has tremendous capability. It can perfect bind a maximum size of 320x320mm and minimum of 120×120. “It has an automatic feed and scores covers all in-line, and its touch screen technology allows for accurate set-up, which reduces waste and increases efficiency. I have a programmable guillotine that allows me to cut books accurately and fast.” He says the Western Sydney business is new but it is picking up some work especially during the Christmas holiday period. Lewtschenko says, “This week I have an order of 4000 books and the same client has placed another order for next week for 1000 books. “The machine can, however, handle much bigger numbers than that. I also provide same day delivery or next day depending on volume and locality.”
