Printers listen to NBN opportunities

Opportunities coming from the implementation of the government’s much maligned NBN were the topic for some 70 printers attending the Printing Industries Spotlight discussion event on the Future of Print and the National Broadband Network last Thursday in NSW.

Garry Knespal from the Graphic Arts Services Australia (GASA) was MC for the night, and the panel featured Rick Daniel from RDA Creative, Adam Todd from Fuji Xerox, David Leach from Look Print and NBN representative Sean Casey.

Bill Healey, CEO, Printing Industries told Australian Printer, “The NBN will provide the ability to move larger volumes of data faster, hopefully at a lower price. It will improve the printers interact with customers, partners and suppliers in their normal areas of business.”

Casey says that there is a big opportunity for printing with the NBN, he says, “Large files, print personalisation, P2B and P2C relationships are all opportunities of the NBN.”

According to Casey the NBN will allow businesses to connect with a variety of services providers at the same time, and will give businesses a minimum download speed of 100mb per minute.

Healey says, “It should also open the door for new products and services as they seek to remain relevant in a multi-channel world.”

Healey says Printing Industries is scheduled to host a second Media Super sponsored event in Sydney and Melbourne this year. The NBN event had already taken place in Melbourne.
