The announcement follows a prolonged dispute with the landlord of its plant at 706 Lorimer St, which is part of a trust managed by Australian Unity. Michael Todisco, now sole director of PrintLinx, would not comment on how the parties had resolved the dispute.
Meanwhile, former PrintLinx companies M&M Binders and Tasmania-based Print Applied Technology have been split off under the directorships of brothers Lenny Todisco and Peter Todisco, respectively.
Michael Todisco told ProPrint: “The three brothers, Lenny, Peter and Michael, are taking over. We have decided to split and go our separate ways.”
He said there are 40 staff at Mercedes Waratah Group, 20 under M&M Binders and around 45 at Print Applied Technologies.
The former director, Michael’s father Frank Todisco, revealed to ProPrint in February that they were planning to close down PrintLinx and let the staff go.
Michael Todisco said: “We didn’t go down that road in the end.”
Michael Todisco said he was the sole director of PrintLinx, which is actually a trading name of Mercedes Waratah Group Pty Ltd.
The company, which had been called Palazzi Investments Pty Ltd until being renamed on 10 April, will also trade as Mercedes Waratah and John D Harris & Co, said Todisco.
The company many would have known as PrintLinx actually changed its name to PrintWorld Victoria Pty Ltd on 5 April.
Michael Todisco said the reason the company had changed its name from PrintLinx to PrintWorld Victoria was so he could use PrintLinx as a trading name of Mercedes Waratah Group.
The directors of PrintWorld Victoria are Len Todisco and Peter Todisco.
A statement from M&M Binders said: “We’re delighted to report that everything is back to normal after a few very challenging weeks.
“As you will know, back in January, we were locked out of our premises due to a dispute with our landlord over faulty stormwater drains.”
M&M Binders is actually a trading name of ‘371 Ferntree Gully Road Pty Ltd’. M&M Binders Pty Ltd was liquidated following a court order last year.
Clarification: ‘371 Ferntree Gully Road Pty Ltd’ is a business name of Gerard Michaud, son of the former owner of M&M Binders Pty Ltd. The address is the site of The Bindery and is not connected to the Todisco family.
