Rapid Machinery helps Sydney TAFE get Memjet press

The equipment supplier, which manufactures its machines in Chatswood, supplied the TAFE with a new Rapid X2 digital label press at a subsidised cost with a full support package.

The four-colour inkjet printer reaches speeds of up to 18 metres per minute in 1,600x800dpi mode and has a maximum 220mm print width.

Rapid Machinery has had a long-standing relationship with the printing department at TAFE, having donated equipment in the past.

General manager Nick Mansell explained that until now, students had not been able to print complete projects.

He said: “They are now able to run complete projects in real time and at the same time they are learning about the digital print environment which is becoming more and more important.

“The future of the printing industry relies on having a pool of people who are trained and capable of operating machinery that’s used in the industry.”
