Ricoh launching low cost DTG printer

Ricoh is releasing the Ri 100 direct to garment (DTG) printer, which the company will sell as an entry level machine for apparel printing.

Price point for the Ri 100 has not yet been released, but it will be below $10,000, with release date as yet unscheduled, however Ricoh Australia is indicating it will be launched here in May or June.

It expands the current DTG range from Ricoh, which includes the Ri 3000 and Ri 6000 printers launched last year.

Ricoh says the Ri 100 can print on a wide range of materials from 100 per cent cotton to blends with a minimum of 50 per cent cotton, to create on demand and personalised items like T-shirts, cloth bags and sweatshirts. The company says the new printer is best suited to low volume printing, delivering it says dynamic offerings with quick and high quality printing without the need for minimum order quantities.

Henryk Kraszewski, senior product & marketing manager – Production Print, Ricoh Australia, says, “It uses the high quality Ricoh heads and inks, but at a price point no-one else gets near. Its affordability and ease of use will attract a new audience to garment decoration, and allow operations to expand their range of services. It has never been easier to start direct to garment printing, with a complete solution from one vendor.”

The system includes the stackable Ricoh Rh 100 Finisher as an option, which the company says eliminates the need for a separate heat press. Ricoh also claims the Ri 100 Direct to Garment printer incorporates versatile Ricoh piezo-electric inkjet technology enabling the printing of detailed designs and photographs with smooth gradations at 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution

Ricoh says the printer supports wireless printing from any application or workstation with a simple printer driver along with automatic maintenance features.
