Roland DG celebrates 25 years

Roland DG is celebrating 25 years in the Australian market with an Open House all day followed by a cocktail event featuring singers, magicians and industry leaders.

Speaking to Australian Printer at the Open House new general manager John Wall says, “Roland has become the market leader through its commitment to customer service allied with its quality products.” The Roland VersaCamm remains the world’s best selling one pass print and cut wide format printer, a position it has held since its launch. Roland is these days diversifying, it now also produces a range of 3D milling systems, however Wall says, “Wide format printing will always be our core business, and our central role in the industry will not change. We believe there is much n the way of opportunity for printers, and our job is to provide the technology to help them exploit those opportunities.” Marc Margetts, Roland DG CEO says, “From our early days supplying plotters Roland DG has been in the vanguard of the wide format explosion. Our customers, whether from the sign and display industry of the commercial print side, know they can rely on us to provide a proactive technology partnership.” Margetts, who has been with the company almost since its beginning, is moving to Melbourne before Christmas, where he will take a more strategic role within Roland, and will have a global role with the company. The Australian business is now responsible for the ASEAN countries, which has led to well known figure Conrad Birkett relocating to Bangkok. Wall says, “Roland DG has always been an innovator, that has been true for the past 25 years and will be true for the next 25.”
