The new printer, designed for indoor and outdoor applications such as for signs, banners, vehicle wraps, window graphics, POP displays, trade show graphics, posters, has a dual mirrored CMYK ink configuration. Roland DG says this eliminates banding for consistent colour imaging when handling large graphic files, adding that the new heads handle high levels of ink for added density and rich, saturated colours. It also has several performance upgrades and comes with a total of 16 pinch rollers and a new grit roller system which Roland DG says ensures flawless media feeding.
It has a redesigned media take up system and heater which makes the most of the productivity by reducing the amount of time required for printing and drying graphics during high speed volume production, according to Roland DG. The company says the new printer has a redesigned front loading ink cartridge which provides ink access while minimising the functional printer footprint. It adds that the printer’s latched maintenance cover protects the print head assembly and opens automatically at the touch of a button and special media brackets support even the heaviest media rolls as they are loaded into place.
