Roland DG releases VersaCamm SP-300

According to Roland DG, this four-colour printer combines all the printing features of the company’s SolJet printers. Its piezo inkjet heads can print on media sized between 182mm and 762mm at a maximum resolution of 1440dpi. On top of this, the printer is capable of contour cutting, which it performs at 10-300mm per second, eliminating the need for cutting the job after printing.

Birkett says the printing costs on this machine are very competitive at $5.50 per square metre, and apparently attendees at the show agree, with a number being sold off the stand, and 15 purchased prior to the show’s opening.

Roland DG also reported at the exhibition that all of its existing printers have undergone an upgrade. The new heating unit on the SP-300 will be implemented throughout the company’s wide format solutions, with Birkett claiming that this will result in better ink adhesion.

Also on display on the Roland DG stand was the new Impactico software, which the company is importing from North America. This software allows the printing of prismatic products on Roland DG printers, with the only added requirement being the prismatic cover for the graphics, which is also supplied.
