Screen links order to delivery with updated Equios workflow at Drupa

The workflow has been beefed up with an array of new functions.

The vendor said that Equios does away with the need for multiple, “device-dependent workflows, each with a different way of handling imposition and colour management, to drive their variety of Screen and third party CTP, toner and inkjet devices”.

A “cloud” module in Equios will allow end users, such as designers, to collaborate with printers on variable data projects and approve jobs via a web browser.

The other big area for Screen at Drupa will be inkjet. The company claims a massive market leadership in the high-speed, webfed sector, with more than 400 of its Truepress Jet 520 machines out in the field.

At Drupa, Screen will add inline inspection technology to the press, which helps ensure all jobs are compliant with the proof.

The vendor said its Jet Inspection JI-500 tool “captures every pixel of every page as it is printed and compares it against the RIP data to ensure full data integrity”.

“JetInspection JI-500 is integrated into Equios so that, if it monitors an error, the finishing line is notified to reject the page and a new one is activated – all automatically.”

Screen has also promised brand new machinery to be unveiled at the trade show, including its first equipment specifically for packaging, but wouldn’t be drawn into giving details.

For a company whose heritage is in CTP, Screen has also improved its pre-press range.

The trade show will see an expanded range of PlateRite machines for the flexo sector, while Screen has also talked up the environmental benefits of its flagship CTP devices.

In the newest version of its eight-page PlateRite platesetters, Screen has reduced electricity use in standby mode by 88%. “Even when in full production, the electricity use has been cut by 41%,” it added.
