SEMA makes digital mail move

Bill Exchange is Australia’s first digital post service for businesses, and has signed a Heads of Agreement with SEMA Operations, which paves the way for the execution of a formal agreement for a period of three years, which will see Bill Exchange provide a digital distribution channel for SEMA’s essential mail.

The deal sees SEMA join the digital mailbox business, with rivals Fujifilm Document Services and and Computershare already both part owners of Digital Post Australia, and with Australia Post itself, which has launched Digital MailBox.

Brian Smith, chief marketing officer, Sema told Australian Printer, “It makes sense for us to partner with organisations that will ultimately enhance our existing digital capabilities and produce real cost savings to our clients. In short, it’s about us continuing to deliver smarter solutions for our clients.”

John Stewart, managing director, Sema says, “We have been able for many years to provide distribution choice to our clients for their customer communications via our internally developed digital platform SecurDocs. Our relationship with Bill Exchange will allow us to leverage our experience in this area for business to business communications.”

Stewart says, “With Bill Exchange’s focus on the business to business sector, they can deliver significant benefits to our clients by not only distributing aggregated digital mail to registered businesses, but also by delivering the corresponding digital payment remittances.”

Ferdi Chavez, head of property solutions, Bill Exchange says, “The integration with Sema has worked smoothly for over 12 months and we now have the necessary scale to attract a broader range of billers, including water authorities, telecommunications companies and utilities providers”

“By adding a return electronic payment remittance, Bill Exchange not only significantly reduces bill production and delivery costs but multiplies those savings by enabling automated reconciliation.” Chavez concludes.
