Sign company owner ‘lured’ customer to death

Inline National Signage owner Chantelle Strnad has been accused in court of luring slain customer Michael Bassal to his death.

Inline business owner Strnad was arrested in Campbelltown yesterday while still on bail for concealing a serious indictable offence. The woman was then charged with murder and for being an accessory after the fact to murder.

It was alleged in court that Strnad invited Bassal to the business premises in Ingleburn on March 7 knowing that gunman Wayne Williams would kill him.

Prosecution lawyer Clint Nasr reportedly told the court yesterday Strnad ‘lured’ Bassal and his two brothers to the premises. The court also heard Strnad allegedly told Williams, “come and sort these guys out. I am going to kill them”.

Magistrate Robert Rabbidge denied Strnad bail, stating he believed the business owner was ‘hell-bent’ on committing the criminal act.

Strnad’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 22, and a number of prosecution witnesses are slated to be former employees from Inline National Signage.
