Spicers pushes into soft signage

Spicers has entered the soft signage materials market, partnering with manufacturer 3M to provide film, vinyl and reflectives to the Australian market.

The country’s second biggest paper merchant has been in the wide format game for a while but mostly provided hardware, software and consumables – making the partnership a major push into a growing market.

Spicers will also have access to 3M’s digital paper range to complement its own products.

Part of a diversified international company, 3M is a significant player in Australia, notably providing the film for the ASGA Wrap Masters National Challenge car wrapping competition.

Spicers general manager Ken Booth says the partnership will allow the paper merchant to further expand into the ‘already thriving’ sign and display market and deliver a more varied product offering.

“Working with 3M will open up our range enormously and customers will be the major beneficiaries of this agreement, with access to such a renowned range in conjunction with Spicers service and support,” he says.

The move is the latest in a trend of paper merchants pushing hard into the digital market, with number three supplier KW Doggett recently launching its first vinyl products and opening a dedicated digital arm.
