Sustainable Green Print starts tomorrow

A new round of the PIAA’s Sustainable Green Print courses begin tomorrow in Sydney and Thursday in Melbourne for printing companies wanting to achieve certification by the end of the year.

The PIAA says the multi-level program is specifically tailored to help printers meet their environmental responsibilities, cut costs and gain a competitive edge.

Based on an ISO14001 framework, the program provides a choice of three linked achievement levels including up to ISO 14001 (Level 3 SGP).

The Levels 1 and 2 program will cover an overview of SGP and reasons for gaining certification; Scoping the site; Environmental policies and continuous improvement; environmental management structure and staff involvement; legal issues; solid waste management and benchmarking; liquid waste management and benchmarking; environmental incident response and staff training; storage and handling of hazardous goods; energy management and benchmarking and Identifying objections.

The association says printers should get involved in the course because it gives them a competitive advantage by differentiating them from competitors; saves money through better management of waste, recycling, energy and water use, energy and air emissions; demonstrates a business’s commitment to environmental sustainability; helps meet the environmental expectations of their customers; provides a structure to manage changing trends in environmental responsibility; and helps reduce insurance premiums by helping businesses to better manage the storage and handling of printing chemicals and incident response.

The course will be on July 22-23 at PIAA’s Auburn office in Sydney, and at its Melbourne office on July 24-25.

Printer can book by contacting Kay Scutter by email or calling (08) 8373 0622.
