Sydney printer gutted by fire

The NSW fire brigade has said almost the entire contents of the premises, which included at least one printing press was destroyed, no one was reported injured in the fire.

The NSW fire brigade recorded several emergency calls regarding the fire, receiving the first at 4.01am with the first response crew arriving at the Tempe facility six minutes later.

After two hours the entire crew consisting of eight trucks, 45 fire fighters and hazmat personnel had the fire under control. The premise is still smouldering and an investigation into the cause of the blaze has begun.

Craig Brierley, superintendent of the NSW fire brigade says the entire premises and its contents were severely damaged, however damage to other nearby facilities was prevented.

He says, “While it’s unfortunate, the crew did an outstanding job both responding and controlling the fire, keeping it from threatening adjacent facilities. The site contained products and equipment used by the printing premises. The cause of the fire is not yet known.”

At the time of publication i-grafix was unable to contact Stella Printing Services; today Printing Industries was also attempting to contact the company, which is a member of the association in order to offer any assistance.
