Turnbull to speak at newspaper conference

Federal Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull will be the keynote speaker at the Future Forum newspaper industry conference, slated to take place in August.

Newspaper production is one of the three major topics at the two-day event on August 20-21, which will include presentations by leading Australian and overseas industry figures, workshops, discussion panels and seminars.

The conference also includes the Norske Skog awards for best newspaper production in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific islands

Turnbull will speak on the second day, with his topic expected to be about media ownership laws the government is considering relaxing.

Other well-known newspaper industry executives presenting at the event include The New York Times chief consumer officer Yasmin Namini, German publisher Axel Springer’s managing director of content Pit Gottschalk, iTunes ‘Hall of Fame’ designer Joe Zeff and Storyful founder Mark Little.

The theme for the conference is Get Closer, and aims to deliver actionable insights from influential thought leaders, global innovators and accredited trainers.
