Vale Del Pugh

Del Pugh, founder and a director of major Aussie success story QLM Label Makers has passed away at her home in Brisbane, aged 82.

Ms Pugh and her late husband David Pugh, who died suddenly in 1992, established the company from the basement of their family home in 1975 with a single hand-fed business card press. The company has now grown to employ more than 380 employees in five countries throughout the Asia Pacific.

Del Pugh was a true character and worked tirelessly in the business until ‘retiring’ in 2002.

During her time in the industry Del held various positions including President of Latma. She remained active on the board of QLM Label Makers. The company recently created an annual Label Apprentice of the Year Award through Latma in honour of the founders.

She is survived by her three children – Fiona, Simon and Morag – who remain actively involved in the business through operational roles or as board members.

A memorial service is being held next Monday June 15. See  www.qlm.com.au for details. The family requests those attending bring a business card as a memento for Del (it is a long-standing and humorous family tradition).
