The Visual Media Association (VMA) has launched its 2025 Annual Industry Metrics Survey, supported by Ricoh Australia, calling on all businesses across print, sign, packaging, mail, and visual media, to get involved and bring the industry voice into parliament. The survey is open to both members and non-members of VMA.
With significant government legislation and regulatory reviews underway across skills, sustainability, procurement and manufacturing, the peak industry body argues the industry metrics have never been more critical, according to the VMA.
The data gathered will directly support the Buy Australian Print and Packaging lobbying initiatives and provide the evidence base needed to advocate for stronger local manufacturing policies.
“This is not just a survey, it’s a voice from industry that is fact based and united,” said Kellie Northwood CEO of the VMA.
“When we walk into Canberra and across state government departments, data drives influence. The more participation we have, the more robust our voice becomes to shape legislation that affects every part of our industry.”
The 2025 survey, which takes just 30 minutes to complete, captures essential data across:
- Salary benchmarks and employment demographics
- Skills and training levels and shortages
- Sustainability certifications and operational practices
- Customer sector breakdowns and business confidence indicators
Building on three years of continuous improvement, this year’s survey aims to provide sharper insights for businesses and policymakers alike, from economic forecasting to environmental leadership.
“Our industry is one of Australia’s largest manufacturing employers, contributing nearly $15 billion annually and supporting thousands of regional and metropolitan jobs. However, to maintain that voice in policy and procurement conversations, we need verified data,” Northwood said.
“Whether you’re a VMA member or not, your input strengthens the future of Australian print and packaging while also assisting your businesses in benchmarking its position across the industry.”
Ricoh Australia continues as a proud industry partner in 2025, supporting the metrics program and the association’s national advocacy initiatives.
“Ricoh is proud to back the 2025 Industry Metrics Survey,” said Mark Moro, national manager, Ricoh graphic communications sales, Ricoh Australia.
“Data is power, it enables businesses to make informed decisions, adapt to market challenges, and plan confidently for the future. We encourage everyone to participate and help strengthen this essential benchmarking initiative.”
Results from the 2025 survey will be launched through a virtual briefing in December and further explored across the country at Industry Leader Lunches held in Ricoh showrooms across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and Brisbane early in the new year.
A comprehensive member report and public summary report will be released following the events.
“Now is the time to act,” Northwood said.
Government is listening, and the more voices we bring, the louder our industry is heard. Take 30 minutes, complete the survey, and help us build the evidence base that keeps Australian print, packaging and visual media strong.”
