Wide-format sector sets sights on service expansion in 2010

Fespa’s latest Economy Survey, which was conducted with InfoTrends, questioned more than 200 companies in the wide-format sector.

It revealed that more than 70% of respondents had utilised new print products, while more than 60% had made a concerted effort to enter new markets and open extra sales channels.

From the 217 surveyed, more than a fifth felt that the market was recovering, although 56.4% claimed that last year was the worst 12 months they had experienced.

Elsewhere, nearly a quarter believed that they would expand their sales force in a push for market expansion.

Marcus Timson (pictured), corporate communications director at Fespa, said the latest findings “stress the need for printers to offer services that stand apart from commoditised print offerings”.

He added: “Printers will thrive when they offer services and solutions that help customers execute their marketing and retail campaigns more effectively.”
