Women in Print continues to grow

Angeline Wyatt, an organiser for the events says, “It is encouraging to see this forum growing organically and being utilised throughout the industry.  It’s not just women within the industry connecting with other women from the industry.

“Women are also connecting with their clients, their co-workers and other women who can mentor their career decisions and help develop their business acumen. I’m pleased to see so many new young faces in the audiences.  This shows that fresh and diverse talent is being introduced to our industry.”

The 2011 events held during March featured key note speaker Stacey Currie, a speaker, a published author and the Official Ambassador for the Lighthouse Foundation, who still finds time to keep fit, run a successful signs and banners business and stay passionate about helping others to achieve their goals, all the time caring for five children.

Currie spoke about how she, without any previous sales experience, singlehandedly opened her business and closed over $300,000 worth of sales in her first 12 months. She went on to double her turnover each year thereafter.  This was an achievement that won her a nomination in the 2010 Telstra Women in Business Awards.  All attendees at this year’s Women in Print dinners received a copy of Stacey’s book ‘The Rich Get Richer, The Poor Can Too’.

Wyatt concludes, “As part of our formal review process, our organising committee will meet after PrintEx to review the feedback from this year’s events.  All feedback, good and bad, is given equal consideration in planning for future events.  The organising committee certainly tries hard to ensure that we deliver an event that all the attendees will find positive and valuable.”
