Woodwing eyes printers with new software launch

Local distributor Creative Folks said the system’s capabilities were suited for print companies as well as publishers.

Creative Folks sales and projects director Andrew Lomas pointed to the tool’s Brand Station solution, which provided web-to-print functionality.

“You can now plug in a web-to-print system as part of Enterprise 7. You can upload templates that customers can access online for things like project approval and brand management,” said Lomas.

He said that Australian publishers such as Pacific Magazines and Yaffa were already using the system, but added that no printers had yet “taken up the challenge” to offer this new service to customers.

“A few years ago, lots of printers went out and bought machines to print outdoor posters – they added another service. So why not go for this system and add online service for customers?”

Enterprise 7, which was demonstrated at Ifra 2009 in Vienna, brings a raft of improvement for online and offline delivery in magazines, newspapers, books and corporate collateral.

Woodwing chief executive Hans Janssen said: “Traditionally, our products are used by publishing houses, but we have also experienced strong growth in the fields of corporate and marketing communications.

“The need to output content to various media channels efficiently and cost-effectively – often with reduced staff numbers – is a strong motivation for customers to start using our solutions,” added Janssen.

The software has also been integrated with Celum’s digital asset management system, Imagine, with the two companies last week announced a strategic partnership.

Imagine, distributed in Australia by Digital Quay, offers a centralised resource for rich content, such as PDFs add image files.

Last month, Pacific Magazines announced it had turned to Woodwing Enterprise 6 for its latest magazine launch, Prevention.
