Xerox wins trio of awards at Graph Expo

Fuji Xerox is celebrating numerous awards at the annual Must See ‘Ems competition held during Graph Expo.

Xerox took out three individual awards, one for best legacy product, one for best prepress technology, and one for future technology.

Xerox won the Prepress and Premedia category for its FreeFlow Digital Publisher. Fuji Xerox Australia marketing manager for production technology, Mark Brown says the Digital Publisher connects with the company’s FreeFlow Core workflow product to turn a PDF file into a printed book or eBook.

He tells Australian Printer, “These two pieces of software can really be used by anyone in the print industry whose customers are looking for a mixture of electronic and physical publishing, which they will be able to do when the FreeFlow Digital Publisher is released in Australia in November.”

Xerox also took out the Future of Print category for its Direct to Object Inkjet Printer which has been shown only twice during drupa and Graph Expo.

Brown explains, “The Direct to Object Printer allows you to print promotional material directly onto an object, at drupa they demonstrated it by printing to aluminium water bottles, phone cases, and just generally odd shaped products to put a logo on and promote a brand.”

However, those looking to get their hands on this machine may be waiting quite some time, as Xerox is still determining whether it will be commercially released in Australia.

The third award won by Xerox is considered the most prestigious of the entire ceremony, the Must See ‘Ems Legacy Award which was presented to the company after two rounds of voting from the selection committee.

Xerox received the award for its DocuColor iGen3Digital Production Press released in 2004. Brown says the award was a nod to the original technology used by the iGen3 which has since been further developed into other Xerox products, including the latest iGen5 series.

The iGen5 is marketed towards commercial printers looking to transition from offset to digital printing. Brown says, “The print industry is heading towards a lot of inline automation, minimising labour and keeping competitive. Short run, but also high volume is where the iGen5 is aimed at.”

Brown concludes, “Obviously we are proud of Xerox Corporation’s achievements.”

Graph Expo 16 wraps up tomorrow in Orlando.
