Roland DG appoints new president

Roland DG Corporation president Masahiro Tomioka will step down as president, to be replaced by executive vice president Hidenori Fujioka after the company announced a ‘new mid-term business plan’. Tomioka will continue serving the company as representative director and chairman. During his 30 year tenure as president, he was responsible for Roland DG’s transition from a manufacturer of pen plotters to wide-format inkjet printers, 3D desktop fabrication tools and vinyl cutters. Roland DG says Tomioka also influenced the company’s global status, delivering world-wide sales leadership with high profitability.

His departure as president comes after the company announced it would implement a structural reorganisation to bring in new business development under its business plan for 2016 to 2020. Tomioka says, “I believe Fujioka’s extensive knowledge of industry-leading technologies and his track record of creating high-value solutions for a wide variety of markets will allow the company to quickly adapt its business model and accelerate its growth.” Fujioka joined the company in 2014 after working for Riso Kagaku Corporation as director, overseeing the development of the world’s fastest colour inkjet cut sheet printers. Of his appointment, Fujioka says, “These are exciting times at Roland DG and I am honoured to serve as president. While upholding its corporate culture and spirit, I intend to turn the company into a more progressive and innovative organisation to achieve sustainable growth.”
