A new year, a brand new ProPrint website

Over the past couple of months, we have been working closely with our in-house team of web design gurus to redesign www.proprint.com.au. And here it is. We hope you like it.

The site has had a facelift, which I hope you’ll agree is a big improvement over the old look. But it’s not just a pretty face: the website brings a whole swag of new functionality.

One of the first things to notice is that you now must register to use some of the functions. Rest assured, all the content on ProPrint website remains absolutely free. However, you will need to register in order to access certain content, such as older stories over 28 days’ old, or if you want to make comments on our user forums.

Setting up a new account is very straightforward. The registration box should pop up the first time you access the new website. Or you can simply click on the image at the top right of the page, where it says ‘”Register now for free newsletters”.

Here you will also have the chance to set up your new identity to use our forums, as well as ensuring your subscriptions to our email newsletters are up to date. We have switched to a new platform for user comments, so you will need to set up a new identity. Simply enter your chosen name in the “Username” field – this name will show up next to any comments you make on the new site.

We have a new approach for Photo Galleries that we think you will really like. As well as making it easier to navigate through all the latest shots from around the industry, you will now be able to leave comments underneath photos (be nice!).

We have also improved the search function. I’ll admit that searching our old website was not particularly user-friendly, so we hope you’ll find the new search vastly superior.

Another completely new element on ProPrint is our new “Marketplace” section, where you can check out all the classified listings that are also found at the back of the printed magazine. If you are a trade supplier or perhaps have a machine to sell, you can talk to our ad manager, Carmen Ciappara, about securing a listing in Marketplace. Email carmen@proprint.com.au.

Our recruitment site has also migrated across, so if you have some new jobs to advertise for 2012, contact Carmen to make sure you get the news out there in front of all the best recruits.

As with any brand-new project, there might be some teething problems, so please bear with the team as we bed in all the changes. If you have any problems, email me and I will endeavour to act as soon as possible.

The website is not the only new face at ProPrint: we also have a fantastic new journalist, Nick Bendel, who has replaced Nolan Giles. You can reach Nick at nbendel@proprint.com.au or by phoning (02) 8399 7677.

Kind regards,

Steven Kiernan, editor
