IVE Group – A Selig family legacy

With the sad news of the tragic death of third generation and executive chairman of IVE Group Geoff Selig, Sprinter looks back at IVE’s history and the story of its success, driven by the Selig family.

It is a story involving constant innovation and pushing the limits; IVE has always looked ahead, anticipating what’s coming next and invested accordingly.

As a result of its forward planning, the company reached its 100-year milestone in 2021 and is still going strong.

The story behind IVE began in 1921, when Geoff Selig’s grandfather, Oscar Selig, returned from World War I and established a local newspaper in Balmain, The Link.

The business then expanded into Victoria and continued expanding its product and service portfolio to deliver on market needs.

Subsequently, after finishing up their university degrees, Geoff and his brother, Paul Selig, joined the family printing business.

In the late 1990s, driven by customer demands, the company diversified its business. Serving as a standalone printing business didn’t fit into its medium or long-term strategy. Some diversification resulted from acquisitions, while others came from organic growth initiatives.

Since then, the company evolved into an ASX-listed commercial printing operation and grew to become Australia’s most diversified marketing and communications company.

Today, its breadth of services enables the business to connect clients with customers – wherever and whenever – all coming together into an integrated offering.

“It is one where creative services, data-driven communications, integrated marketing, production and distribution work in harmony to make customer connections,” a spokesperson for IVE Group said.

“Since the beginning, our people have been at the core of our success. For 100 years, we have challenged ourselves to exceed what’s expected, but we won’t stop here.

“We’ll continue to do what we’ve always done – look towards the future, read the shifts in our sector, set in motion new initiatives, and develop our integrated offering to continue delivering stronger and better outcomes for our clients.

Testament to the values and integrity of the Selig family, IVE CEO Matt Aitken said since the beginning, the company’s valued client partnerships have always been at its core.
