AGS to show off new Glunz & Jensen chem-free CTP at PrintEx

The 2-up and 4-up system can produce up to 20pph and 40pph respectively and includes a full resolution Harlequin-based RIP as well as an integrated finishing that can cure plates without the need for chemicals or processing.

The machine will be introduced to Australian audiences at PrintEx11 by local distributor AGS.

The finishing unit cures the plates using low-energy halogen heat sources, which are then automatically gummed. As well as low-energy usage, the chemistry free process results in high stability plates.

AGS representative Ross Gilberthorpe said the company was excited to bring the model into Australian the market.

“We have already installed 10 of the 2000 and 2400 range, which has been very successful and we are now looking forward to bringing the 3000 into the Australian market,” he said.

Mark Baker-Homes, business director for iCTP, said the system was “the third generation of Glunz & Jensen’s inkjet CTP technology. With more than 700 systems already installed worldwide, we wanted to bring the extraordinary success we had with this technology to the medium-sized commercial printer.”

“Installing a PlateWriter will help printers meet new government guidelines relating to the use of chemicals in the workplace and eliminate all chemical disposal costs.”

The system is expected to handle a workload up to 10,000sqm of plates per year.
