French-owned mail and finishing kit maker Neopost is buying Australian print supplier Anitech, snapping up most of its assets and product range. The deal with Anitech’s parent company Hancock & Gore Group (HGL) comes after some tough years for the company, with changes in management, restructuring, staff cuts and branch and warehouse closures. Most of Anitech’s 60 staff will move to Neopost, boosting its numbers to around 200 in Australia across its offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. The acquisition continues to move Neopost beyond its mailing and finishing focus into wide format, as Anitech supplies textile and wide format printers from various manufacturers.

Managing director Stuart Macdonald calls the buy an ‘excellent strategic fit,’ with opportunities for existing customers on both sides of the deal. Raj Dang, sales director with Neopost, says many of Anitech’s staff will be joining a new sign a display division the company is in the process of creating to focus solely on servicing the needs of the wide format print market. He says, “The sign and display division reflects our expanded involvement in this sector of the market and demonstrates to existing Anitech customers our commitment to their specific requirements. “Anitech has an excellent stable of brands like LG, Seiko and KIP, which integrate almost seamlessly with our own offering, which not only includes printers like HP and Jetrix, but a wide range of other products in the mailing, binding, folding and inserting areas.”
